reflecting on ESL/EFL and its relation to faith

Today there was an earthquake of point 6 about 4 hours drive south of
here. It still shook me awake around 9 am. But other than that I'm okay.

In the winter I used to think, "These crazy Japanese people, carrying
flammable liquids all of the place just to heat their homes. Don't they
know they might start fires?" But today after the earthquake, the number
one warning is, "If you have any problems with your utilities -
especially if you smell gas - call city government immediately."

And this morning I realized that there aren't as many underground
utilities here. Probably because we are living on a volcanic island.
Smart Japanese people.
